Exporters reject blame for structural failures
The All Pakistan Exporters Associations Forum on Thursday rejected criticism that exporters have failed despite years of government support, saying the country’s export problem lies in high production costs and weak competitiveness rather than product quality. They asked for stable long-term industrial and trade policies. Chief Coordinator of the Forum, Muhammad Jawed Bilwani said exporters were ready to work with the government to increase exports, but urged it to address the cost and ease of doing business, ensure a level playing field and treat exports exclusively as a federal subject under a stable policy framework for at least 10 years.
